Baltimore is looking up AGAIN, AGAIN and AGAIN.  Crime is down, never low

enough; the City was rated the 12th most walkable City in the United States;

and The Baltimore City Circulator buses are here and running.  The great

walkable city was created as a walk through Fells Point, Federal Hill and the

Inner Harbor -  waterfront communities full of people, entertainment, fun and

The circulator buses are FREE and travel various routes throughout the extended

downtown area and connect many neighborhoods.  You can jump from one bus to

another; they run approximately every 10 minutes at all stops. Take an

adventure and visit a new neighborhood without your car and save gas, too.

The economy continues to gain traction, albeit at a slower pace then we would

all   like - a few of you are having a tough time or are in transition between

jobs, and monies are tight.  Should you be in a tough situation or find that

you will be late on rents, please notify me immediately.  You can call, email,

text, fax or whatever, but communicate!  A communication from you is the only

way that I can be apprised of your circumstance and help you.

 

 

 

Please help your neighbors and the City by calling 311 to report problems.  The

calls are free and when you call, please have the exact location and a detailed

description of the problem.  The call center is very helpful for reporting

problems such as: potholes, dirty alleys, illegal dumping, abandoned or

unregistered vehicles, water leaks, missing or illegible signage, street lights

out, and other problems affecting your neighborhood.  A good rule of thumb: if

it looks wrong or in need of attention, you are probably correct, and it needs

to be reported.  Do not assume that someone else called.  Many times, the more

reported items get resolved faster.  Thanks in advance for doing your share and

helping out.

As a reminder, if an issue arises, please let me know immediately. It is best

to address any issues early, before they become larger and more costly

problems.  Early on many problems can be resolved via telephone or a quick

same-day visit.  So contact me, preferably earlier in the day, so that the

problem can be resolved.  That's why it's great to "Live with Howie B"!

Top 10 Money-Saving Tips for Tenants!
1) Look for water leaks - if water shimmers in the toilet bowl after cycling or
your toilet is noisy, this indicates that your toilet may need service. Water
is getting more expensive every day; the City just raised rates another 9%.

2) Clean out your dryer lint tray after every load.  Otherwise, you will waste time and energy running the dryer unnecessarily. Additionally, this can become a fire hazard.
3) Use your programmable digital thermostat to earn up to $200 in annual

4) Do your laundry after 7 PM on weekdays or anytime on weekends, when utility
rates are lower.
5) Keep blinds closed and angled accordingly during the day to keep out direct
sunlight and reduce your energy needs.
6) Avoid fines from the City:
-Keep trash in tightly sealed cans and recycling securely packaged at all
times.
Remember to place them out no earlier than 6 am of collection day and
label
recycling with an "X" or "RECYCLE".
-Clean yards, alleys and sidewalks even if it is not your mess; pull
weeds,
pick up trash.

7) Change your HVAC filters twice a year. Set a reminder on your calendar or
PDA.

8) Use energy-saving devices like compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).

9) Report slow-moving drains as soon as you notice the problem.  Do not wait
until
they are clogged and not moving!

10) If a problem arises and you are unsure of what to do, ask Howie B!

1) Raise the top of your stove and clean under the burners. Crumbs accumulate
here and can cause a fire hazard and attract unwanted bugs.

2) Clean the grill at the bottom of your refrigerator, it will run more
efficiently.
